I'm starting a travel bloggg! Even though I'm not a good writer, I love traveling. People are always asking me for recommendations, so I decided to start documenting my journeys! I always forget little details and names of places/restaurants after I return from trips, so keeping them all in blog posts will be a good reference to go back to sometimes. For my first post, I'm starting with Asheville, North Carolina!
Recently, some friends and I decided to go on a short road trip to Asheville. It's about a 3 hour drive from where I live, so perfect for a little weekend trip. It's also perfect during the Fall season when the leaves are changing colors. Asheville is known for it's beautiful hiking trails and breweries, but we didn't do any of that LOL so if you're looking for other recommendations (or if you want to know why we didn't do those things) then keep reading!
Day 1
We left from Georgia at about 8 am and arrived in Asheville just in time for brunch! I have never really been a huge brunch person because I feel like all places have pretty much the same foods (eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc..) and I always feel like I can just go home and make them myself! BUT we ended up trying Biscuit Head (Jay's recommendation) and it was SOO GOOD. I got the quinoa scrambler, which was very unique! They also have the cutest jam bar for their biscuits. Definitely recommend. The line can get pretty long, though, so expect to wait or go early!
We also went to the Biltmore Village, which is small but nice to walk around during the day. Biltmore Estates is an amazing place and is the largest home in America. We didn't go during this weekend trip, but I would recommend seeing it at least once if you like architecture and learning about the history behind it. I went a few years ago and personally didn't think the tour was very interesting, but a lot of people really enjoy it!
After checking into our Airbnb and resting for a bit, we went to Montford Rooftop Bar and stayed to watch the sunset! It's kind of cramped in there, especially when it's busy, but the sunset was so nice to watch! You could see all the colorful autumn trees below.
We had dinner at Chiesa, which is a nice Italian place nearby. Make a reservation in advance, though, because we had to wait an hour! After dinner we walked around downtown Asheville to explore and decided to head to bed early.
Day 2
Sooo we actually did try to go on a morning hike, but it ended up being a fail. We left at around 5am and drove through the Blue Ridge Parkway to watch the sunrise on the way. Unfortunately, when we finally got to the hiking trail, it was closed off due to icy roads! There was a nice overlook, though, and the views were beautiful! Even though we didn't get to hike, I think it was still worth it! I took the photo below with my phone, and it was even more amazing in person!
After our Blue Ridge adventure, we checked out of our Airbnb and headed to lunch at Pack's Tavern. My friends and I didn't think it was great, but the sweet potato fries were good! There was free parking nearby, and we were able to walk downtown afterwards. Before heading back to Georgia, we made a final stop to French Broad Chocolate Lounge. It's a cute place that would be good for a little coffee date. There is sometimes a line just to get in the door, though! We didn't end up going to any breweries because none of us like beer, but a lot of the breweries there actually serve food as well!

Overall, Asheville is a beautiful city, and there are plenty of great restaurants that I will have to try next time! But if you are looking for sights and activities, definitely go for what most people go for-- hikes and breweries.
